Abstract sketches

Hey guys, Hugo here-

Here's a couple of abstract sketches from my Design & Art Theory class. I was trying to represent how you would abstract a fish (the 1st one) and a figure made out of liquid (2nd). Enjoy!

Dog ruffs

Hey guys, Hugo here to show some rough dog sketches for the research & design stage of the new "Kleeman and Mike" animated short. BTW thank you so much to all who donated and/or shared & reposted! These are pretty realistic still so we probably won't go with them and there's still more design to do. They were done digitally in Adobe Flash using the brush tool on a Wacom Cintiq so they're all vector. Hope you like!

Soccer boy

Hey guys, Hugo here again. George will be posting soon, he's been pretty busy art directing this year's ESPN Winter X-Games at Full Sail and his day gig there.

This week I'm posting a drawing and final illustration of my 1st nephew Levi for his 3rd birthday card (home made), finished last week. This is all digital done in Photoshop with an older Wacom Cintiq 21UX. I'll post the final card with text later this week on my blog. Hope you enjoy!

Mai Justice

Hey guys, Hugo here:

Here's the final quick digital concept sketch for a character in Wolfgang Wozniak's "Mai Justice" game. Wolfgang is a Full Sail University alumni who posted one of his characters at our DADA Full Sail art club Facebook page and I decided to do a short critique demo there where I redrew the character. You can check out more about the game and characters by clicking in the name of the game above, he's still looking for artists if you're interested.

Character is © 2010-2011 Wolfgame and Wolfgang Wozniak

Joan Holloway

Hugo here!

I finished "Mad Men" season 4 on Netflix recently and thought it'd be appropriate to sketch the Marilyn Monroe-esque Joan Holloway, played by Christina Hendricks. She's definitely a character that seemed shallow in the beginning but the writers were able to induce her with some depth. It's also great to see that TV is putting women with real curves on the screen.

I'm definitely a fan of her and the show (Don Draper sketch coming soon) but so much smoking and drinking on it though! Also check out Hendricks as a bad ass in the Joss Whedon series "Firelfly", where I saw her the 1st time.

Young Meat Loaf

Hugo here!

This week I'm sharing a work-in-progress young Meat Loaf commission for my work buddy Jacob. Drawn with black Conté on 8"x10" Canson BFK Rives cream paper.

My past memory of Meat Loaf comes from his cheesy "I'd Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That)" 90's video and as Eddie from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" but thought he was weirdly entertaining as Bob Paulson in "Fight Club". Perfect casting as Jack Black's dad in "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny"! The more I looked at Meat's old videos, the more you could see the resemblance in both looks and dramatics; like as if JB modeled himself after Meat!
